By Mazen T., age 7
I have a big ladder that reaches up to the sky, once I climbed all the way to the top. The ladder has a special thing. Every time I take a step it grows a new step. I went up to the stars. I grabbed a star and I felt it. After that I was shocked! The star felt so awesome! It was hard but fluffy. So, I went back down with the star and I showed it to my parents, and we were happy all along.

<![CDATA[what christmas really is]]>Sun, 08 Dec 2019 21:05:45 GMThttp://neo-learners.com/published-works/what-christmas-really-isPicture

Some people think that Christmas is only about presents and gifts and toys. But those people are wrong, Christmas is not about presents, gifts, and toys. Christmas is about spending time with our family. And Christmas is also about celebrating the birth of a little boy named
Jesus. The reason we get gifts is because the three wise men brought gifts for little boy Jesus. So, whenever you hear someone say that all I want for Christmas is lots and lots of presents you need to let them know the true meaning of Christmas.

A winter day has snow.
Snow is whiter than a sheep’s fleece.
A winter day is cold so I would wear a coat.
A winter day is a good day to go sledding with friends.
A winter day is a good day to wrap yourself in a warm blanket, and watch a winter movie.
And a winter day can’t be complete without a nice cup of hot chocolate.

When it's a starry night I like to look up and think to myself “how long does space go on?” And then I look and see if I can spot any constellations. If I can’t stop looking at the stars that’s when I know that I was made to be with the stars and nothing can split me and my love for the stars apart.

<![CDATA[The Cat On The Moon]]>Mon, 30 Sep 2019 20:12:00 GMThttp://neo-learners.com/published-works/the-cat-on-the-moonPicture
By Mariella S., age 10, Seven Hills

Hi! I'm Deena. Well, my owner calls me Pumpkin, or Sweetie Pie, or whatever. I'm a cat. I really wanted to see what that big white ball in the sky is. My brother, Jack ,said it's the moon. But I wanted to find out myself. One day, my owner's six-year old kid, Michael, went on a field trip for school to the space center. They were going to watch a rocket blast off to the moon. This was my chance! I hopped into his backpack as deep as I could and waited. I could hear other kids talking and feel lots of bumps.

When we got there, I hopped out of his backpack. I was in a little coat room. The door was half open so I walked out. There were computers and strangers everywhere. I went to a room that had a sign above the door that said, "Take-off Elevator." I jumped into the elevator and it went up, and up, and up forever! Finally, the doors opened.

The door to a big rocket ship flew open. I climbed inside and went into a storage room. It was full of raw and cooked meat! I was starving! After I ate, I hear a woman's voice over the loudspeaker: "Take-off in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5...." I was frightened but excited at the same time!
I felt lots of bumps and more bumps. Soon, we seemed to have landed. I walked out of the room. In front of me were space suits of all kinds of shapes and sizes. I picked the one that fit me and opened the hatch door.

The white sand was so bright with the sun shining on it. I walked along, then into a crater. It was so small, that I could lay in it, with no extra space, just like my bed!I found a moon rock so I decided to take it with me for Jack to see. I rolled it back into the ship and into the storage room. After a few minutes, the ship took off again and went back to Earth. I took my suit off because I was hot. The space ship finally landed and I walked out and into the station again.
I rolled the moon rock into the coat closet to see if the backpacks were still there and they were! I hopped back in with the moon rock and went back home with Michael.

"And that's my story, " I said to Jack.
"Oh wow...." said Jack, sarcastically.
"Well, if you don't believe me, believe this moon rock!" I said.
"Wait, what?" Jack yelled.
"Yes, shush!" I whisper-yelled.
"Wow, Deena, you really are The Cat on the Moon!" Jack said.

The End!

<![CDATA[wings]]>Sat, 03 Aug 2019 01:16:28 GMThttp://neo-learners.com/published-works/wings
By Mariella S., age 10, Seven Hills

I wish I had wings, I would fly around the night sky.
My wings would be rainbow colored and soft.
When people saw me, they would tease me.
And I would tell them,
"I can't change the fact I have wings."
I would have to be careful
not to run into birds.
The best part of all would be
my feet wouldn't get tired from walking.
